How Accreditation Works

Accreditation follows a transparent, five step process that ensures rigor, fairness, and institutional learning.

Step 1: Expression of Interest (EOI)

  • Submit a short online form introducing your institution and mentoring programs.
  • Indicate your proposed cohort size.
  • Receive the IMCC Accreditation Handbook and documentation readiness checklist.

Step 2: Application and Documentation Submission

  • Upload program design and curriculum details.
  • Submit mentor or faculty profiles.
  • Provide ethics, safeguarding, and governance policies
  • Share available. mentoring outcome data
  • Confirm approved cohort size.
  • Pay the Accreditation Application Fee covering documentation review and administration.

Step 3: Evaluation and Quality Assurance Review

  • Review of submitted evidence by an IMCC Assessor Panel.
  • Virtual or on-site observation of mentoring sessions (as applicable).
  • Interviews with program leads, faculty, or learners
  • Verification of mentoring data, ethics compliance, and inclusion practices.
  • Payment of the Quality Assurance (QA) Fee.
  • Evaluation scope aligned to approved cohort size to ensure proportional assessment.

Step 4: Accreditation Decision and Listing

Following evaluation, the IMCC Accreditation Board issues one of the following decisions:

  • Accredited Institution (Valid for 3 Years) – Fully aligned with IMCC standards.
  • Accredited with Recommendations – Approved subject to an agreed improvement plan.
  • Re-submission Required – Additional evidence or revisions needed.

Successful institutions receive the official Accreditation Certificate and Digital Seal, inclusion in the IMCC Global Directory of Accredited Institutions, and access to the Accredited Partner Portal for annual quality assurance reporting and renewal reminders.

Step 5: Accreditation Decision and Listing

Following the evaluation, the IMCC Accreditation Board issues one of the following outcomes:

  • Accredited Institution – Valid for 3 Years
  • Accredited with Recommendations (conditional approval with improvement plan)
  • Re-submission Required (further evidence needed)

Successful institutions receive:

Annual Quality Assurance

Accredited institutions participate in an Annual QA Review to maintain listing and credibility.

Each year, institutions submit a brief QA pack including:

  • Updated mentoring data (hours, reach, completion, outcomes)
  • Evidence of ethics compliance and learner feedback summaries
  • Any curriculum revisions or staff updates

IMCC may sample evidence or hold a virtual QA conversation. Continued listing in the directory is contingent on QA compliance and closure of any corrective actions.

Accreditation Renewal

IMCC Accreditation is valid for three years. Renewal ensures continued alignment with evolving mentoring standards.

Renewal Requirements:

  • Updated program and outcome reports
  • Ethics recommitment and trainer credential verification
  • Completion of a brief self-assessment and QA review
  • Payment of the Renewal and QA Fees

Renewal applications open 90 days before expiry, and IMCC provides advance reminders and support.

Governance, Appeals, and Integrity

All accreditation decisions are overseen by the IMCC Accreditation Board, which ensures independence, transparency, and fairness.

Assessors

Assessors are trained and bound by confidentiality and conflict-of-interest policies.

Appeals

Institutions may appeal decisions within 30 days; an independent Appeals Panel reviews all submissions.

Complaints

Learners or partners may report ethics or quality concerns via the IMCC portal; each case is investigated under defined timelines.

Badge Use Policy

Accredited institutions receive official branding guidelines. Misuse of logos or false claims can result in suspension or delisting.

Recognition for Excellence

After at least one successful accreditation cycle, institutions demonstrating exceptional outcomes may be considered for an optional IMCC Recognition for Excellence. This acknowledgment highlights sustained impact, innovation, or sector leadership without creating multiple accreditation tiers.
