Accreditation Renewal

Becoming an IMCC-Accredited Institution is not a one-time audit –  it’s a developmental journey that strengthens your mentoring systems, enhances quality, and connects you to a global community of excellence.

Here’s how the journey unfolds from the moment you begin your application until you earn your accreditation.

Step-by-Step Renewal

1. Beginning the Journey – Expression of Interest

Your journey starts with curiosity and intent.

Institutions that wish to become accredited first submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) form, sharing basic details about their mentoring programs, structure, and objectives. This step helps IMCC understand where your institution currently stands – whether you already have a mature mentoring framework or are just beginning to build one.

Once received, IMCC acknowledges your EOI and shares a readiness checklist – a short self-assessment that helps you gauge your alignment with IMCC’s competency and ethics standards.

If you’re still in the early stages of building your program, IMCC might recommend Training Center Membership as a preparatory step to help you move confidently toward full accreditation.

2. Understanding the Standards – The Consultation Stage

Following your EOI, IMCC arranges a consultation session with your team. This is where the process becomes collaborative. During this conversation, IMCC assessors explain:

  • What accreditation involves
  • The documentation and evidence expected
  • Which accreditation level (Standard or Premier) best suits your current maturity
  • What kind of support and resources you can access

You also receive an Accreditation Starter Kit – templates, sample formats, and guidance to help your team prepare the necessary documentation with clarity and structure.

3. Making It Official – The Application Submission

Once you’re ready, your organization submits a formal accreditation application through the IMCC portal.

This includes a complete profile of your institution, details of your mentoring program, training curriculum, ethics policies, and any data or reports that demonstrate your impact.

At this stage, you’ll pay the Accreditation Application Fee, which supports the initial document verification, evaluator assignment, and coordination of the accreditation process. You’ll then receive an official acknowledgment and timeline from the IMCC Accreditation Team.

4. Strengthening the Foundation – Pre-Assessment Review

Next, IMCC assessors conduct a desk review of your submission.

This is a diagnostic step – it helps identify whether your mentoring systems and documentation meet IMCC’s foundational standards.

You receive a short pre-assessment report outlining strengths, improvement areas, and any additional materials that may be needed.

If you wish, you can request a feedback meeting with your IMCC reviewer to discuss the report.

This stage ensures that institutions enter the main evaluation phase with complete preparedness and clarity.

5. Demonstrating Excellence – Evaluation and Audit

Once your pre-assessment is cleared, your application enters the evaluation phase. This is a detailed review of your mentoring practice, training outcomes, ethics implementation, and institutional systems.

Depending on your chosen accreditation level, the process may include:

  • A virtual or on-site audit by IMCC assessors
  • Interviews with program heads, mentors, and mentees
  • A review of your mentoring tools, outcome reports, and feedback forms
  • Verification of how your institution embeds ethics and inclusion

A Quality Assurance (QA) Fee is applicable during this stage to support the audit process and evaluator review.

The evaluation phase is rigorous but designed to be supportive – helping you recognize both your institutional strengths and areas where further alignment could enhance impact.

6. Recognition and Approval – The Accreditation Decision

After the evaluation, IMCC’s Accreditation Board reviews all findings and issues a formal decision.

Institutions that meet the criteria are granted accreditation at one of two levels – Standard (valid for 3 years) or Premier (valid for 5 years).

Successful institutions receive:

  • A formal Accreditation Certificate and Digital Seal
  • Official communication of approval and validity period
  • Access to the IMCC Partner Portal for annual reporting and renewal
  • Guidelines for displaying the Accredited Badge in learning materials and communications
  • Institutions that receive conditional approval are given clear recommendations and a support pathway to full accreditation.

7. Joining the Global Network – Directory Listing

Once accredited, your organization becomes part of the IMCC Verified Accredited Training Centers Directory, which is accessible globally.

This listing builds visibility and trust with learners, HR leaders, government agencies, and international partners seeking credible mentoring institutions.

Your listing showcases your institution’s name, region, specialization areas, accreditation level, and validity period.

Accredited institutions are also invited to collaborate on IMCC’s global initiatives, including research, conferences, and mentor development programs – positioning your organization as a thought leader in the field.

8. Sustaining Quality – Annual Assurance and Renewal

Accreditation is not static – it reflects your ongoing commitment to quality. Each accredited institution participates in annual quality assurance reviews to maintain standards and track progress.

You’ll share brief updates on your mentoring data, outcomes, ethics compliance, and learner feedback.

Before your accreditation term ends, you’ll begin the renewal process, which includes submitting updated reports, affirming your ethics policy, and paying the renewal and QA fees.

IMCC’s Accreditation Team supports you throughout this process, ensuring a smooth continuation of your accredited status.

The Outcome

By the end of this journey, your institution stands recognized as a trusted center of mentoring excellence – one that not only meets international benchmarks but also actively shapes the future of mentorship.

Accreditation gives your programs legitimacy, your learners confidence, and your stakeholders trust.
